Year 2 Weekly Blog 1.3.24

Date: 28th Feb 2024 @ 12:47pm

Another jam packed week in year 2! During Maths we have continued to explore money, looking at how we can make different amounts with different coins and exchanging coins. Please read the home learning tab for more information about Maths.

In English we have continued our Supertato story, focusing on subordination, compound words, using a question and dialogue. We have really enjoyed seeing the children's input into our english lessons, using new vocabulary and coming up will brilliant questions.

In PE we have added more to our 'Under the Sea' dance, thinking about what we would find when in the ocean and what movements we could make to represent that.

During History we looked at the real life superhero, Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut to go into space. The children drew lovely pictures of her and wrote down their favourite facts about her and her adventures.

In Computing this term we are exploring the world of digital photography. We spoke about the importance of asking permission before taking a photograph and what devices can or cannot take photos. We then practiced taking photo's on the ipads and looked at when to take a photo in portrait or landscape. The children had fun dressing up as superheros and posing infront of our superhero wall for a landscape picture.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, see you next week!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
