Year 2 Weekly Blog (13.1.23)

Date: 12th Jan 2023 @ 10:07pm

We've had a magical week in Year 2, continuing with our new topic 'Once Upon A Time'. The children have been looking at different settings where a story could take place and exploring lots of interesting adjectives they could use to describe each setting. We also had great fun hot seating with the children while they pretending to be their favourite fairytale character and the rest of the children asked them questions. We had guest appearances from Snow White, Cinderella, The Big Bad Wolf and many more!

In Maths, we have been looking at mass in grams and kilograms and the children have had the opportunity to weigh different items as well as themselves!

In Computing this week we have been speaking with the children about how to keep themselves safe online and what happens when they post online. A lot of the children were surprised to find out that something they may post online now would stay online forever.

In Art we have introduced the children to two new artists, Charlie French and Marela Zacarias. The children then used water colours to create their own versions of both artists work.

In Music we have continued listening to pieces from the Orchestra and focusing on the story of The Snow Queen. The children have been analysing how music can convery different moods or aspects of the narrative.

We hope you all have a brilliant weekend!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
