Year 2 Weekly Blog (13. 3. 20)

Date: 13th Mar 2020 @ 8:32am

We've all had another fun-filled week at school in Year 2!

On Thursday morning, the year group visited the synagogue in Liverpool on Princes Road.  The children were very interested to learn all about the Jewish faith and the history of the building from our lovely guide Roy.  The children really impressed Roy with their knowledge of Judiasm; the children were amazed with the beautiful interior of the synagogue.  On Friday, the children wrote a recount of their trip to Liverpool and were able to further demonstrate their excellent ability to recall, describe and write past events in chronological order.

In Maths this week, the children have investigated measuring.  The children used rulers and metre sticks to explore the widths and lengths of objects around the classroom.  The children have learned all about the differences between milimetres, centremetres, metres and kilometres, and why each unit of measure is useful.  The children compared the lengths of objects, writing number sentences using the 'greater than' or 'less than' mathematical symbol ('>' and '<') to describe the relationship.

In English, the children have independently planned and written their superhero stories based on the character profiles they have created over the past few weeks; the writing has really impressed all of the adults in Year 2, and we have been able to see just how far the children have developed their writing skills since the start of the academic year last September.

Take care and see you next week!
