Year 2 Weekly Blog (11. 2. 22)

Date: 8th Feb 2022 @ 2:27pm

This week, the children have had another fabulous final week before the half-term break.

On Tuesday, the children were greeted with a special visitor - the Gingerbread Man!  During the morning, the children baked gingerbread biscuits and then went on to decorate them in the afternoon, following their designs and using all their decorating tools and skills to create some beautiful looking baked biscuits!  The children were fantastic at following the recipe's instructions and working together in small teams: carefully weighing and measuring out the ingredients, and then all having a go at mixing, rolling and cutting out their own biscuit before they were put into the hot oven - thankfully, we had no escapees!  With more than sixty gingerbread biscuits being baked throughout the morning, the delicious smell of freshly baked biscuits seemed to fill the corridors and creep into all the classrooms around the school by the end of the morning.  Lots of teachers and children seemed very eager to see what the children had been upto in Year 2, that's for sure!

In Maths, the children have started to focus their learning on money: thinking about different coins and the differences in how they look.  The children consolidated their learning with manipulatives (with play money, not real money!).

On Friday, the children very much enjoyed being able to watch the Reception production - it seems like just yesterday that Year 2 were on the stage, performing their Nativity story!  Well done Reception!

We hope you all enjoy the half-term break, and look forward to seeing you soon!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
