Year 1 Weekly Blog (18. 6. 21)

Date: 17th Jun 2021 @ 10:00am

Friday 18th June

We could not have chosen a better week for our volume and capacity topic as well as our wild flower hunts. The children revelled in the opportunity to take their learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Our thoughts haven’t strayed far from the seaside and we have been discussing the physical and human features of different coastal areas and how they vary. Fortunately, we live by the coast, and this has enabled the children to bring their personal knowledge and experiences to discussions.

We have also begun to learn more about Grace Darling, and why she became famous. This will continue in the coming weeks.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Take care and thank you for all your support.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
