Year 1 Weekly Blog 11.11.22

Date: 11th Nov 2022 @ 11:47am

Friday 11th November

Today, we marked Remembrance Day with a special assembly led by our Y6 children. We were very proud of them all. Thank you for your contributions to the British Legion Poppy Appeal.

COP27 and climate change have been considered throughout the week. We have discussed what climate change is, what contributes to it and how we can help. We completed investigations relating to melting sea ice and the impact this has for animals. We went on to create posters suggesting ways in which we can help.

Next week, is UK Parliament Week as well as Anti Bullying Week. The theme this year is to Reach Out. On Monday, we look forward to wearing our odd socks to promote uniqueness. Then on Friday, we may be yellow, spotty, or both, for BBC Children in Need.

Also, we will continue our work identifying, naming, grouping and describing a variety of animals. Not many sleeps to go until our visit to Knowsley Safari Park. Roll on Thursday!

As mentioned in the newsletter, a further Year 1 writing meeting will take place on Wednesday 23rd November at 2:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Have a lovely weekend.

Many thanks for your continued support.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
