Year 1 Blog 29.9.23

Date: 29th Sep 2023 @ 5:13pm

What another wonderful week we have had! On Wednesday, we attended the Harvest church service delivered by our Year 3 friends. Fabulous!

We also completed some super science, thinking about our sense of sight and touch. We thought about the fact that we can feel not only using our hands. We had fabulous fun on our touch tiles, using our feet to feel each one and describe it. The children then enjoyed time playing with our smell and touch sensory guessing games. Kim’s game was a favourite too.

Time was spent talking about the differences between fruit and vegetables too. We look forward to taste testing a variety before making our smoothies. We shared the story of The Lost Son and retold the story ourselves. We discussed the story and thought about its meaning.

We have been thinking about the signs of autumn and remembered back to the sunflowers planted while in Reception. We observed how they have changed and drew all we had seen in our sketchbooks.

Next week, we are holding an informative English meeting, for Reception and Year 1, at 9am on Monday. We look forward to seeing you there.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
