                                 Friday 26th January

This week, we spent time considering the different properties of materials. We completed an investigation about waterproof materials and decided which ones could be used to keep our teddy dry.

We had terrific time on ‘Take a Teddy to School Day’, describing our teddies and sharing facts about them. We also thought about the different emotions we can experience and devised some teddy emojis for a class book.

The children, also, transformed into Bee-bots, and controllers. They had fun giving each other commands to follow and realised just how simple and clear they needed to be.

As mentioned in our Spider message, the children have been asked to bring in an ‘in living memory’ toy, on Monday. We will enjoy sharing them with our friends and preparing for our toy museum.  Our Year 5 buddies have accepted our invitation to visit the museums, next Friday, and we are excited to begin our preparations.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
