Year 1 Blog 22.9.23

Friday 22nd September

What a wonderful time we had, this week. We completed some super science, thinking about our body parts and naming them. We also concentrated on our sense of smell and enjoyed a smell quiz. We shared some super ideas and vocabulary before finding out the answers. In the week to come, we will focus on our sense of touch and sight.

Once in PE, we continued exploring how we can use our whole body to spin, and balance, in a variety of ways. We look forward to incorporating our ideas into unique sequences.

During music, we continued learning about both pulse, and rhythm and played the untuned instruments with this in mind.

We shared, and retold, the story of Jonah, showing us what Christians might think about God.

In the week ahead, we look forward to our Harvest service, led by Y3, next Wednesday. Also, the Reception/Year One Maths Meeting, next Monday morning, at 9am.

It was lovely to see many of you at our Year One Welcome Meeting, yesterday. If you were unable to make it, you will find we have sent home any relevant information we handed out. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Our dedicated Year 1 email is                                                                         yr1@slf.sefton.school

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

With thanks.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
