Year 1 Blog 2.2 24

Date: 2nd Feb 2024 @ 3:59pm

                                 Friday 2nd February

The children were so excited to set up their Toy Museums and share their exhibits with their buddies. They were fabulous curators and had a wonderful time together. Our Year 5 buddies were enthusiastic visitors, keen to learn about the different exhibits. Numbers Day, and mufti for the NSPCC, certainly added to everyone’s enjoyment.

Next week, we will consider how and why toys have changed from in living memory to now.

We continued thinking about the properties of materials and conducted our own investigations to find which ones are transparent, opaque and translucent. We used torches to help us decide.

2D and 3D shapes have also been on our mind. We conducted a shape treasure hunt and recorded what we had observed using tally marks.

Time was also spent with the Bee-Bots, exploring different commands and their sequences.

It will be Safer Internet Day, on Tuesday, and we will explore this throughout the day. As you know, one of the family activities on the Home Learning Grid refers to this.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
