Year 1 Blog 21.4.23

Date: 21st Apr 2023 @ 4:10pm

What wonderful weather we have had for our first week back! The children have loved the opportunity to play, prior to coming into class each morning, and have promptly started their Morning Motivator, once inside. We introduced our new topic, "Into the Forest" and have already shared a number of traditional tales. Earth Day gave us the opportunity to think about our planet and how we can care for it. We chose to commence our planting and have started with our peas. Next week, we look forward to planting our potatoes and salad bar selection. It has been wonderful to hear all about the fruit and vegetables being grown at home too. We also took time to think about St George's Day, this weekend, and how it can be celebrated. In the week to come, we will consider the human and physical features found in England. Wednesday, we will enjoy our orienteering day and ask that the children wear their outdoor PE kits on this day. As you know, the children will complete their Phonic Screening Check during the Summer term. An information YouTube clip has been placed, in red, on the class page for you to view. Should you have any queries, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Have a lovely weekend and thank you for your support.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
