Year 1 Blog 19.5.23

                                 Friday 19th May

This week, our Birds art project continued and we completed observational drawings of feathers using various mediums. We went on to experiment with paper, trialling different techniques, in readiness for making our 3D birds.

What a difference a week makes! We observed our plants, once again, noticing their stems lengthening and more leaves appearing. Fantastic!

Not only have we talked about the different parts of plants but the various jobs they do. We discussed both garden and wild flowering plants and had a wonderful time, with our buddies, on our own plant hunt around school. Our tree research took us further afield. We had a fascinating time, at the woods, observing the deciduous and evergreen trees there as well as the wild flowering plants.

In the week ahead, we look forward to learning more about terrific trees and their similarities and differences. Can’t wait!

Do take a look at the new phonic clips,”Set 3 SF FT Films” (Special Friends, Fred Talk), within the Home Learning section of the website.Further details can be found on the Spider message you have been sent. Any queries, please let us know.

Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for your support.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
