Year 1 Blog 1.10.21

Friday 1st October

This week, we spent time learning more about the United Kingdom. We learned all about what a city is as well as about the four capitals of the countries in question.

We took our charcoal exploration a stage further by creating hand art. We used the techniques we had learned, during our initial investigations, to help us create our own unique designs.

Fabulous fun was had by all when we met up with our buddies, this afternoon, for playground games. All the children were so excited to spent time together. We can’t wait until the next time!

As you know, we take time to consider each season and our current focus is Autumn. The Pink-footed Geese are now returning to Martin Mere. For the month of October, there is the opportunity to visit there and see the geese coming. It will be open, free of charge, from 5.30pm to 7pm each Wednesday and Saturday throughout the month.

For those of you who were unable to join us for our Welcome to Year 1 meeting, the recording is now available to view in our Google Classroom.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
