Year 1 11.3.22

Date: 11th Mar 2022 @ 3:55pm

Spring is in the air! This week we have thought about Spring and spotting signs for it. We will continue our observations over the course of the half term. We have thought about explorations, past and present too, from Christopher Columbus to the discovery of Ernest Shackleton's Endurance, this week. Amazing!

Our Pirate Dance sequences continue to evolve and we look forward to developing them further.

Next Thursday is St. Patrick's Day. We will learn more about him and how the day is celebrated. We will discuss the physical and human geographical features of Northern Ireland too. Friday is Comic Relief Day and we will be in mufti.

We can now confirm Pirate Date will be on Monday 28th March. The children are able to dress as a pirate on that day. They are welcome to wear their white t-shirts and tracksuit bottoms on the day and use props from our classrooms. However, they are also able to use items they may have at home as well. More information will come out closer to the time.

Have a wonderful weekend.

The Year 1 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
