Y6 Weekly Blog (21. 9. 18)

Date: 21st Sep 2018 @ 1:05pm

We have started our Fit for Life topic this week and the children were treated to a presentation from Active Sefton on Friday morning. Stella came in to give Year 6 information, as she works with schools to advise young people on how to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. She was impressed with the knowledge the children already had and we are all looking forward to building on this in the coming weeks.

We have finished our Anthony Browne learning by looking at Willy the Wimp, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. This small English topic has progressed the children's inference skills when reading, and the adults have been impressed by their mature responses to the various texts.

The four operations have become our focus in Maths and the children have already shown and used their place-value knowledge in this area. We will continue to develop their skills here, as we face more difficult multi-operation calculations in the future.

Our Superstars this week are Reece (6WD) and Eva (6G). You really have stood out this week children so very well done.

Please don't forget our open day is this Sunday (23rd September) at St. Luke's so please feel free to join us and spread the word. The school will be open to visitors from 1-3pm.

Additionally, as discussed at our Welcome to Year 6 meetings that we had on Wednesday, we are sending out our new homework grid to be trialed this half term. This has been explained to your child and the children across the year group are enthusiastic about this new challenge. We welcome all feedback from parents and carers in the coming weeks.
