Y6 Weekly Blog (14. 9. 18)

Date: 14th Sep 2018 @ 12:51pm

The children have shone this week as the difficulty in their learning goals has been increased. In Maths, they are really getting to grips with the place-value of numbers up to and beyond one million. This is tricky stuff so their enthusiasm and efforts have been appreciated and rewarded in equal measure.

Anthony Browne's wonderful story Voices in the Park has been the basis of our English work and writing. The empathy shown by the children for the characters has displayed some outstandingly mature inferences and all of the adults in Year 6 have been blown away by the way the children have responded to the story's writing, characters and beautiful illustrations.

Home Learning sheets should have come home with your children this week. There is a Maths sheet with a breadth of questions and a challenge based on our topic learning. We don't expect your child to spend more than 30 minutes on the maths, as whatever they can achieve in this time will be enough. It is merely a nice recap of some things they have seen before and a bit of exposure to what they may see later in the year, so it should be challenging. Spellings are available on our class website in the links below. We are looking at Unit 2 spellings for next week's review.

Our Superstars this week are Ellie (6G) and Eva. H (6WD). Well done to all of our children but to you two in particular for an absolutely marvelous week.

The Year 6 team.
