Y5 weekly blog 8.10.21

Date: 8th Oct 2021 @ 3:15pm

This week we have finished our addition and subtraction unit in maths and will be starting our new unit on multiplication and division next week. We have also come to the end of Maya madness, having learnt so much about the ancient civilisation. We started the topic knowing nothing about them but now know their place in time and the world, about their beliefs, temples, Gods, food, daily life, favourite games and even that we don't like their hot chocolate!

Our next topic is a mini one based around a classic narrative poem that we will post details of next week as on day 1, the children have to use their dective skills to work out the title of the eponymous poem.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
