We have had another exciting week in school. We have been taking inspiration from our build up to writing books to retell the story of The Snowman - by Raymond Briggs, from the perspective of the snowman. We changed the name of James (the young boy) to our buddies name so that we can read them our stories next week.

We have been making electricity circuits for our DT  Christmas cards and Mrs Harper and Mr Williams were so pleased with how much we remembered from Year 4. The children taught each other how to create the circuits. (see photographs.)

In maths we have been translating and reflected shapes.

In music we performed 2 pieces to our budiies on our brass instruments. They especially loved Jingle Bells. (see videos.)

In RE we have continued to learn about where we learn about the nativity, using evidence from the bible to work out why Matthew and Luke gave different versions of the same events and why Matthew wrote about the Magi, Kind Herod and Jeseus, Mary and Joseph fleeing to Egypt and why Luke wrote about the  shepherds and manger.

5H have been completing their National Curriculum targets in swimming. Next week will be our last session.

In computing we wrote short scripts  in a planning format, thinking about the camera angles we would use for each shot, then filmed our scenes using our plans before evaluating their success.

It was also Christmas dinner day and there are some photos of us having a lovely time in the hall.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
