Y5 blog 9/9/22

Date: 9th Sep 2022 @ 2:16pm

At the end the first week we have done so much for week 1.The children came back rwady to learn and have been a real credit to you all. It was so difficult choosing our superstars for worship today.

Today we spoke about the death of Queen Elizabeth 11, watching Newsround to help understand what had happened and what will happen and the whole school came together to remember her life and pray.

We have also started our Maths No Problem lessons, unit 1 focussing on reading, writing, comparing and rounding numbers. Our maths homework (found by pressing the red home learning button on the Y5 class page) reflects the learning in class. We have also started learning all about the Maya civilisation, discovering in atlases where they lived and comparing when they lived to the same time periods in British history. In PSHE we have been looking at how Fairtrade helps poverty stricken farmers to get a fair price for the crops they produce. An overview of the learning for this half term is on our class page.

We also loved having a play in the ROLA before Reception start to use it on Monday. have a look at the photographs to see the fun we had.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
