We have had a fantasic start to Autumn 2. The children have been really inspired with our new topic Planet Earth. The overview is on the class page if you want to see some of the exciting things we will be doing. 5H began their swimmimg sessions and thoroughly enjoyed getting back in to the pool. 5W have been exploring balances and creating sequences in gym.

In science, both classes have been learning about the solar system and how the gravity of the sun keeps each planet orbitting on its own path. we went outside and pretended to be the planets so that we could really see how Mercury's orbital path of 88 days is much quicker than Neptune's 165 years. The children used a visual stimulus of a nebula to create a piece of descriptive writing using imagery and powerful language. We were astounded by the rich use of vocabulary.

In music weare learning to read musical notation without the notes written in for us. This is a challenge that the children are ready for in their musical journey.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
