We have really enjoyed the start of our new topic, "Planet Earth," this week. In science we have been looking at the solar system and the way the planets orbit round the sun. The children had made many questions showing brilliant leArn inqusitive skills:

  • What stops the planets colliding?
  • How hot is the sun?
  • How do the planets stick to their orbital path?

are just a few. We went outside and investigated the theory, dramatising how the planets rotate and orbit and showing why Mercury only takes 88 days to orbit the sun whereas Neptune takes 165 years. By becoming the sun and planets, the children really understood the concept.

We continued learning about space with a guided reading non fiction report on the sun and by researching Mars in english to help with our writing next week.

5H really enjoyed their first swimming lesson of the year and 5W their gym.

We have started rehearsing for a Christmas Concert to our buddies in our brass lesson. Jingle bells is on google classroom and on the homework page here for children to rehearse at home.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
