Y5 Blog 24.3.23

Date: 24th Mar 2023 @ 2:07pm

This week we have been rehearsing Star Warts with all the props, backdrops, sound effects and songs. We have worked so hard learning all our lines, dances, actions and songs, and the props team have done an amazing job creating all the scenery and props. When you come to see it, you will think you are in the West End, not St. Luke’s school hall. A reminder that on Wednesday, doors open at 1:30 for a 1:45 start and on Thursday, children need to arrive between 5:30 and 5:40, doors then open for parents at 5:40 for a 6pm start. Children enter through the foyer and parents through the side door into the hall. We are taking lots of photographs and will put them in next weeks blog. We don't want to ruin the suprise!

In maths we have continued our geometry lessons, learning how to measure angles with a protractor and solving angle problems without a protractor, using our knowledge of right angles, (90’) straight lines (180’) and angles around a point. (360’)

Advanced notice that the first week back after Easter on the Thursday (5H) and Friday (5W), we will be using the home economic rooms at Range High to create healthy bolognaise sauce. All children will need a glass jar – jam jar size. We will also need 5 parents for each trip. Please email Y5 or speak to us in person if you can help out.

There is no homework this week as we want children to relax, recharge and prepare for SHOWTIME next week.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
