What another busy week it has been!

We completed our Mars Transmission topic with an independent write. To see our sentence stacking sessions from the previous few weeks turned into a complete piece of writing was brilliant to see.

In DT, we began our soft toy sewing topic and all of us had a go at practising with our running stich, cross stitch and applique; we can’t wait to turn our designs into the real thing next week!

We have continued with our 1 k a-day as part of Mr Williams’ race to Christmas and have now completed 9 back to back Kms. We are feeling fitter, more energised and stronger and some of us our trying to beat our personal best times.

In computing, we have begun using the filming techniques previously taught and link them to a story board. We are looking forwards to creating our own story boards and filming them.

In science, we have learnt about the forces of gravity and air resistance. We had lots of fun demonstrating air resistance using the parachute as well as running with a selection of different sized pieces of card to show how air resistance works. Next week will be investigating how surface area can affect air resistance and will learn all about water resistance.

Have a wonderful and safe weekend.

The Year 5 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
