What a great week we have had in Year 5. Bikeability has started, with children (in groups of 6-9) having intensive training to be confident and safe riding on the roads. Children have a whole day of training that starts on the playground to learn signalling and safety skills then on to the roads around Formby once the instructors are happy that the children have passed Stage 1. Bikeability continues next week.

In maths we have continued our fractions work but also had lots of fun on the NSPCC Number Day solving puzzles that involve numbers. It was lovely seeing so many children dressed with / as numbers.

In art we have made mannequins and designed clothes for the them taking inspiration from up and coming fashion designers and from the clothes the Vikings wore.

In music, alongside our brass lessons, we have also been learning about The Blues, listening, singing and playing the 12 Bar Blues on instruments. Nest week, children can leave their brass instruments in school to use in our next Blues lesson.

In English we are about to start our independent write after taking inspiration for our build up from Nowhere Emporium.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
