This week in maths we have been learning the formal method to find the product of 2x2 digit and 3x2 digit problems, creating calculations such as 35 x 76 or 132 x 64. The children have become more and more confident with the method as the week has progressed. This week's homework consolidates this method. The answers are on a seperate word document if you want to check them. Next week we move on to division.

In science we have looked at how the moon orbits the Earth, while the the earth orbits the sun. We used torches and  different sized balls to investigate the children's thoughts before and after our learning. Check out some photographs of our investigations. There are also some photos of our us joining in a Children in Need Live lesson with Joe Wicks and Gethin Jones.

In English we have been analysing a poem called "6 ways to look at the moon," by Pie Corbett. Next week we will be writing our own poems. In music we have started to learn Jingle Bells on our brass instruments and the notes are on the home learning page for children to practise.

We were very lucky this week to have Mr Marshall visit us. He came in , not as Aurora's Dad, but  in his role working at TSB and talked all about money, savings and it's importance. He covered lots of our PSHE objectives on this topic. Also for PSHE, durining class worship, we looked at the controversy surrounding the World Cup taking place in Qatar. he children were very sensible in their thoughts and responses.

Finally a reminder that 5H need T-shirt and short pyjamas on Wednesday for swimming as stated in the earlier email.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
