In maths this week we have used our knowledge of right angles, straight lines, whole turn quadrilaterals and triangles to solve missing angles problems. Some were very tricky. In English we have planned and written persuasive letters to our local M.P. Bill Esterson or to the National Trust about issues that we feel strongly about – teenagers misbehaving, lack of bins, vaping, new houses to name a few. We hope he reads our letters and acts on our suggestions.

We had a fabulous session with an orienteering company on Wednesday, using our school grounds to map read and find electronic devices. We then taught our buddies how to navigate the course and map. These skills then helped us with our Geography and History, where we went on a local walk to learn all about the houses that are 100 years old or older and how we can tell. We looked at the houses on Carrs Crescent West and Elson Road that have crests with dates, then used our knowledge from their bricks, rooves, shapes and features to work out the dates of other houses. We then marked them on a road map as we went.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
