Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

Y2 Weekly Blog (24. 9. 21)

Date: 23rd Sep 2021 @ 12:55pm

This week, the children have been introduced to the 'Year 2 column method' for addition!  We have all been very impressed with how carefully the children have been able to understand this tricky new mathematical operation and apply it to be able to add two numbers together.

On Monday, the children continued to think about special books and why the Bible is a special book for Christians.  The children shared what they knew already about the Bible, and why it is special to them; they will be continuing to think and learn all about the Bible in greater detail in the weeks to come.

In P.E., the children continued to work on their football skills in the sunshine on Wednesday afternoon, and on Thursday they were able to get back into the hall to use the sportshall athletics equipment where they enjoyed a circuit of activities, practising their throwing, jumping and balancing skills.

During the week, the children have been outside with their sketchbooks, looking carefully at the houses to create detailed sketches, and as well as that, we have been so impressed with the array of fabulous pieces of art work - drawings, sketches and collages - that have been brought in from home; this has to be the most creative and artistic year in school!

The children have also used Chromebooks this week to draw their homes using 2 and finish off the data collection exercise, creating pictorams to represent the different types of houses people in 2G and 2M live in.

Hopefully the sun keeps shining and you all have an enjoyable weekend.

See you on Monday, Year 2!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
