We have had a wonderful week in Year 2! Lot's going on as we are nearing the end of term - how time flies!

In English this week we have made a start on our independent Superhero stories. The children prepared by creating their Super Veggie and Veggie Villain and planned their stories in eight plot points, focusing on a different grammar focus for each plot point. We're really looking forward to reading their stories and seeing them use everything they've learnt this term in one final piece.

In Maths we have continued learning about shape, focusing on moving 2D shapes and turning shapes. There is more information on the home learning tab about Maths and what we have been up to.

This week in PSHE we spoke about how everyone's family is different and unique and how families can be made up of different people. In outdoor PE we focused on our bowling skills, overarm and underarm and then used those skills to have a small game of cricket.

In Computing the children took photo's on the ipad's of a superhero figure and then used the ipad features to edit their pictures. We were so impressed with how creative the children got with these, exploring different lighting and angles. We then looked at how to spot if a photo is real or if it's been edited.

During Science we were investigating which materials can change shape. The children had a variety of different materials which they tried to bend, squash, stretch and twist including wood, blu tac, a ball, pencil, sponge and paper.

Don't forget Superhero Day has been moved to Tuesday 26th March, to allow us to have the whole day instead of half a day.

Have a lovely weekend!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
