    Friday 12th January

This week, we have been thinking about toys, both old and new. We discussed toys the children enjoy playing with now and how some toys belonged to older family members. We will discuss this further in the weeks to come. We thought about chronology, too, and created a timeline for our morning.

We shared the story of Where the Wild Things Are and discussed the mark making techniques. Together, we tried some for ourselves. Next week, we will apply these skills when drawing a toy of our own.

The puppets are at their final stages and the children look forward to sharing them with you.

The children had fun at Games Club and Lego Club too. Take a look at the photos capturing those magic moments.

Next Tuesday, Stephen Mannings, from Liverpool Cathedral, is doing a music presentation for us. More exciting times ahead!

Don't forget to look on the Home Learning page accessed by the tab at the top of the year 1 page. Here you will find a message about Read Write Inc. QR codes, together with this week's maths homework task.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
