Reception Weekly Blog week ending Friday 25th June

Date: 27th Jun 2021 @ 7:29pm

Week ending Friday 25th June 2021

We have been on an insect hunt this week, carefully looking for insects within our school environment and ticking them off on a chart. The children have enjoyed it so much we thought you may like to do one at home, so have put a tick sheet in your child’s reading folder - happy hunting!

During our outdoor games lesson the children imagined that they were insects living in their different habitats, and thinking about how they move. We had lots of slimy snails, busy bees and fluttering butterflies.

Our caterpillars are now in cocoons and we are watching them daily to check for any changes.

We introduced number 17 as our number of the week. Have a look at home for number 17’s. Practise counting forwards and backwards, as well as counting out 17 objects. Can they be shared? What is one more and one less than 17?

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
