The home straight…

We can’t quite believe that we are entering the final half term in Reception. The year has flown by in a flurry of giggles, sticky fingers and plenty of child – led learning! The sun has shone down on us this week and we have enjoyed the freedom of taking our learning outdoors at every opportunity.

Our topic for this half term is “Fantastic Formby”. We will be exploring all the things that make Formby (and the surrounding area) unique and special. Our stunning beaches, lush pinewoods, rare red squirrels, unusual asparagus fields, but also the associated problems that living in such a beautiful area can bring, mainly pollution and littering. We believe that there is a Beach Angels litter pick organised for the coming weeks. Have any children been involved in litter picking before? It would be a really beneficial way to spend a few hours outside, enjoying our local environment.

We are hoping to organise a few local walks to allow the children to explore all that Formby has to offer. We might even take our sketch books with us. What better way to be inspired than exploring the natural world around us?

Today the children spent some time with their new RWI teacher. As it has been such a short week, we will not be sending home a RWI book to share. Please choose a book from home and maybe take it outside, find a shady spot and snuggle up together for a story. We will be fully up and running again from Monday.

Enjoy the gorgeous weather over the weekend and we will see everyone bright and early on Monday morning.

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
