Reception Weekly Blog (8.12.23)

Another fabulous week in Reception!

We introduced number 11 this week, learning that 11 is one ten and one extra one. We also added 11 counters one at a time to a ten frame, and found that it only holds ten. The children all worked together to find the solution that we needed one more!

The children have also been very busy creating something special for a loved one at home! Have a look at the photographs below for a sneaky peek. We are practising our letter formation every day in Reception and are amazed at the children's progress so far! Please continue to practice at home by reading, then writing on the sound practice sheets in your child’s book bag. Little and often really goes such a long way and makes a huge difference to your child’s confidence when reading.

Another few busy weeks to come, here are some reminders:

Wednesday 13th December – ‘Christmas Dinner Day’ – children can wear a Christmas jumper or Christmas colours at no charge, and will enjoy a roast dinner together at lunch time. If your child will not eat a roast dinner please speak to your child’s class teacher as soon as possible.

Tuesday 19th December – ‘FOSLS Christmas Takeover Day’ - This is a FOSLS (Friends of St. Luke's) event, so please remember to sign up, and also make payment if you have not yet done so, referring to the information sent from them. Children can wear party clothes, but with sensible shoes please as Reception children will still be learning outside throughout the day.

Have a wonderful weekend and don’t forget to share your good news with us by emailing [email protected]

The Reception Team :)

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
