What a fantastic week full of amazing animals!

This week we have been learning all about Lunar New Year, and the 12 zodiac animals who each represent a year on the Lunar calendar. We read the fascinating tale of ‘The Great Race’, a story of kindness, teamwork and competition. We re-enacted the story in our small world play, made colourful lanterns and looked at traditional clothing and objects.

The children looked brilliant in their animal outfits on Friday. A BIG thank you, to all our children, parents and carers, who donated to the FOSLS fund. We have really enjoyed thinking about the way different animals move, and using our imagination to replicate animal behaviour!

We have been inspired by the number 11 this week. The children have especially enjoyed working with a partner (or two!) to show 11 fingers and even spotting number 11 on clocks and doors around our school! It is fantastic to see the children discover numbers in our environment, can they find the number 11 at home? Don’t forget to send in any photographs of good news from home. We love to share with our class. Our e-mail address for good news is reception@slf.sefton.school

Next week, ‘There’s No Business Like Show Business!’ We are looking forward to stepping into our dancing shoes, to sing and dance each day in rehearsals for our performance of Hat’s Off. The children are so excited to show you how hard they have been working, and we are all very proud of them!

Have a great weekend everybody,

The Reception Team :)

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
