Welcome back! It has been lovely to hear about all the exciting things the children have been up to during the half term holiday.

The darker evenings and upcoming Bonfire Night have inspired us to explore oil pastel resist artwork celebrating the wonderful colours and shapes fireworks create. We spoke about how fireworks make us feel, and all of the ways we can keep safe whilst enjoying firework displays. It has been wonderful listening to the children recreating all of the ‘whoosh’ and ‘BANG’ sounds that the fireworks make.

In maths, we have introduced number 6 this week, so see if you can find any number 6’s at home. Please support your child to find all the different ways to make 6 using the fingers on both hands.

The children were amazed when they arrived to find a letter from ‘Prickles’ the hedgehog on Friday. They couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw Autumn leaves and pinecones in the classroom with a letter on top! Prickles needs the children’s help in building his nest to hibernate. The children had some wonderful ideas as to how we can help, and really enjoyed collecting all of the leaves in the ROLA to build Prickles a nest. A reminder that each child will need to bring a small cardboard box to school on Monday, filled with Autumn treasures to begin designing and building a home for hedgehogs. If you are finding it tricky to find a box, please let us know.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody, stay safe. We can’t wait to hear about it all on Monday.

Take care,

The Reception Team :)

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
