Reception Weekly Blog (30.6.23)

Date: 30th Jun 2023 @ 4:26pm

What a week!

We have been building towards transition for a few weeks now, talking about any worries the children may have and, more importantly, what they are looking forward to about joining Year One. Well, after all that talk, they got a chance to experience it for real on Thursday. The children were so excited and spent the morning exploring. They now know where the toilets are, the lockers and their trays. All the super important details for a four / five-year old. We will be working closely with the Year One team for the remainder of the summer term to ensure that the children are prepared for their next exciting step along the school journey.

Happy News! Both classes have now earned enough Golden Tickets for a treat, so, on Tuesday 4th July (next Tuesday) we are celebrating with a Teddy Bears Picnic. The children have been busy thinking about healthy food choices and have chosen a few items to include in our picnic. It is just a mini-picnic as the children will have had their lunch, but we will be celebrating in style. This week they have designed their own party plate, written a shopping list and are counting down the sleeps until the big day. The children can come to school in their own clothes on Tuesday, no one parties in their school uniform!

Can we please make a suggestion? We always advise that children leave their most treasured teddy at home because we cannot guarantee that it will make it home in one (clean) piece. Also speaking of teddies, if the children would prefer to bring in their cuddly rhino, penguin, dinosaur… that is absolutely fine.

So much to look forward to. Enjoy the weekend! Take care and we’ll see you on Monday.

The Reception Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
