Reception Weekly Blog (30.09.22)

What a brilliant week we have had in Reception!

We have had a busy week talking about our families, we spoke about every family being different and every family being very special. Every child had the opportunity to draw and colour their own ‘my family’ pictures to display proudly on their working board.

It was so nice to see you all on Thursday at our Reception open afternoon, the children were thrilled to share their learning space with you. We had a busy couple of days preparing for your visit, take a look at some of the pictures of us making those yummy rice crispy cakes.

As we continue to learn our Set 1 Speed Sounds, please ensure children are regularly practising the ones we have learnt so far at home. Being able to recognise the pure sound of ‘m, a, s, d, t’ will really help when we start to blend these sounds for reading.
If you are unsure of the correct pronunciation of each sound take a look at this link for video guidance, you will also find letter formation phrases for writing the sounds.

The children are looking forward to their first walk to church to celebrate The Harvest Festival with their buddies on Tuesday, fingers crossed for a dry morning. Don’t forget outdoor games begins on Thursday 6th October, children need to come to school in their games kit with a waterproof coat.

Next week, we will be learning all about Harvest, the children will be able to play in a role play farm shop and talk about how lucky we are throughout the year, but particularly during harvest time.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone, don’t forget to share your good news with us on a ‘good news slip’ we love sharing it together. Email us your pictures using reception@slf.sefton.school to save you from printing them off.

The Reception Team :)

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
