Reception Weekly Blog 25.2.22

Date: 25th Feb 2022 @ 2:44pm

Welcome back, everyone!

The children have returned refreshed after the half term holiday and were excited to tell us their news. We have really enjoyed our vets and doctor’s role play areas in our classrooms.

This week we re-assessed our children, we now have four new RWI groups, each group will be led by a member of the Reception team. We have learned all set 2 sounds, so please keep revisiting the sheets sent home to gain speedy recall of sounds. It is also really important to regularly check your child’s book bag for books and other important information.

We introduced number 12 this week, using the ‘Numberblocks’ for inspiration. The children have enjoyed making 12p, looking at 12 o’clock and talking about the twelve months in the year. We can’t wait to continue exploring the teen numbers next week.

Next week we will introduce Mr. Wolf’s Pancakes and make/ flip our very own pancakes. We will talk about Lent in the Christian calendar and what sort of things people might give up for Lent.

Please don’t forget to share/donate to the Rocket Fund to help repair our loved ROLA. We hope to start work over Easter so our current Reception children can be the first to enjoy the new space.

We would love to hear your weekend news, you can write it on a good news slip and send it in your child’s book bag or email reception@slf.sefton.school and we can share it on Monday morning.

Don't forget we have a book sale taking place on Friday 4th March, after school in the story-telling garden!

Have a great weekend everybody,

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
