Reception Weekly Blog 24.9.21

Date: 24th Sep 2021 @ 3:28pm

What a brilliant and busy week we have had in Reception!

A HUGE well done to RH for winning the bucket challenge organised by FOSLS – a massive 22.2.kg!

We have learned 4 sounds so far; ‘m’, ‘a’, ‘s’ and ‘d’ – the children have been using their excellent skills to find all these sounds in the ROLA. Each time your child learns a new sound in school they will bring a letter formation sheet home with them, please keep these at home where you can continue to revisit them.

Follow this link to a Ruth Miskin (RWI) video showing parents/carers how to say the speed sounds correctly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkXcabDUg7Q

This week we had our first indoor PE session where the children moved like elephants and some of our favourite jungle animals during Yoga. We also had our first outdoor games session; the children have amazed us demonstrating their physical skills on the play frame.
They adapted well to another change in routine, please continue to offer lots of opportunities to further skills at home e.g. putting on jumpers and coats.

Next week we will be learning all about Harvest in the run up to ‘The Harvest Festival’ on Sunday 3rd October 2021. Don’t forget you can ride your bike to school next week.

We can’t wait to see your good news slips on Monday; maybe you have found or made one of our new sounds? If you have any pictures you would like to share with us please send them to reception@slf.sefton.school

We have uploaded lots of pictures from our first few weeks in school that we would love you to have a look through.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone,
The Reception Team :)

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
