Half-term already!!

This week, we have been inspired by the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’. We have thoroughly enjoyed listening to and retelling the story in many different ways, the children were amazed when they learnt that once wheat had been harvested by the combine harvester it can be taken to the windmill to be ground into flour. We watched a clip of a working windmill and enjoyed making our own bread, the children did a fantastic job of kneading and shaping the dough into the shape of a hedgehog.

On Monday, we celebrated St. Luke’s Day with a captivating service held by Reverend Matt, we walked there with our buddies and had great fun playing eye-spy on the way.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Edger and Mrs. Dwan came to join us in class and helped us plant our daffodil bulbs before it gets too cold. Our children have loved helping out with the gardening this week, leaf collecting and weeding. We would love to see you out and about in your garden over the half term holidays.

Please continue to practise the speed sounds we have learnt so far, if you would like to continue reading CVC words over the break, you can sign up (for free) on the Oxford Owl website by following this link: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/user/sign_up.html and selecting ‘parent’. Here you will find an eBook library. We would recommend ‘sound blending book 1’.

We hope you have a fantastic break, recharge those batteries ready for a another busy few weeks as we embrace our new topic of ‘fire’!

Take care all,

The Reception Team :)

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
