Reception Weekly Blog (16.09.2022)

Date: 15th Sep 2022 @ 9:37pm

What a brilliant first week we have had!
The children are settling well into their new routines, forming new friendships and have made us all extremely proud, they really are a credit to you all.

This week we have used the story of ‘The Colour Monster’ to talk about starting school and all the different emotions we may feel. We have been introduced to the story of Elmer to begin talking about how each and every one of us is special and unique, even though we have lots of similarities too. The children have made their very own Elmer from tissue paper which now sits on the window letting the sun shine through.

The whole school enjoyed Values Day on Thursday, we spent the day talking about our class value ‘kindness’ and the children came up with wonderful ideas about how we can be a kind friend. We even got to meet our year 4 buddies in the afternoon, we shared stories in the sunshine and spoke about the letters we received over the summer.

Next week we will continue learning about Elmer and African Elephants, we will also be looking more closely at ourselves and how each and every one of us is unique. We will talk about our families and the people who are special to us.

Each child is now a proud owner of their own reading folder, please can we ask that water bottles aren’t put into book bags.

Well done everyone, we have loved getting to know you!

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
