Wow – another Friday is here and what a brilliant week it was!

We introduced our new number of the week on Monday, number 3! We have such fun exploring these numbers in detail, we have seen how three is made using a part, whole diagram which we have attached below. We have been exploring the special features of a 2D shape this week, it has 3 corners and 3 sides… a triangle! Making 3p was fun as we found out there isn’t a 3p coin, so we worked together to find the different ways we can make 3p with the coins we’ve seen so far.

On Tuesday, we went on an autumn walk, we collected autumn treasure like leaves, conkers, sycamore seeds, pinecones and acorns). If your child finds anything over the weekend, it would be lovely to share it in class. Inspired by our walk, we created our own autumn pictures using brown paint on our hands and made orange leaves using red and yellow and mixing with our fingers, such messy fun!

On Wednesday we went on our first walk out of school to visit St. Luke’s Church and we met Reverend Matt! Considering it was the first time walking to church for lots of us, all the children did exceptionally well and we are so proud of how well they behaved.

It was so nice to see you all on Thursday at our Reception open afternoon, the children were thrilled to share their learning space with you. We had a busy couple of days preparing for your visit, take a look at some of the pictures of us making those yummy flapjacks!

We are continuing to learn our single letter sounds in school, please keep referring to these sounds to ensure we over-learn the sounds. Click here for a link to find where to purchase speed sound cards, we use these in class for speedy recall of the sounds taught so far.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone, don’t forget to share your good news with us on a ‘good news slip’ we love sharing it together.

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
