Autumn Spectacular!

Only one more week before the end of the first half term – it really has flown! The children have all made so much progress already, and are coming into school much more independently and learning the routines of the school day.

This week, we celebrated diversity! On Monday, we showed the children a mystery box, and explained that inside was something incredibly special and completely wonderful. As each child took a peek inside, they were met with a mirror! We discussed how we are similar but also how we are different and importantly, how we are all unique. On Thursday we loved showing off our differences by wearing rainbow colours!

Wednesday saw us come to the end of our Autumnal art project, where the children used paint, pencil and chalk to design their own autumnal picture. We have been blown away by the children’s patience and perseverance during this art project. Learning that everything we may see as a mistake can actually turn into art! The children will be bringing their artwork home soon, and are very excited to show you!

This week the children have been busy preparing vegetables to make our very own soup, they used lots of words to describe how the veg felt and smelt. We used our shoulders, arms and hands to develop our fine motor skills when learning how to safely chop, using large but child-friendly knives. We talked about how healthy vegetables are, and then the children had a try of the delicious soup, with many children asking for a second helping! We enjoyed our soup with some tasty fresh bread.

Please continue to practise the speed sounds we have learnt so far, if you would like to prepare for reading words at home, you can sign up (for free) on the Oxford Owl website by following this link: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/user/sign_up.html and selecting ‘parent’. Here you will find an eBook library.

Take care all,

The Reception Team :)

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
