Week ending Friday 9th July 2021

We have had a very busy week! We visited Reverend Matt at St. Luke’s church. The children listened brilliantly; asked some great questions; explored the church and its grounds sensibly, and walked beautifully with their partners (so well that some members of the public commented on the superb behaviour). The children were amazing and a credit to our school, which made us all very proud.

Our butterflies emerged from their cocoons this week too, and the children have loved watching them dry their wings, start to fly and feed from the fruit. We let them free on Thursday afternoon, into our school garden – so the life cycle can start all over again.

We introduced number 18 and the children found 18 objects in the ROLA and placed them on the two ten frames. We say 18 is made from 1 ten and 8 extra ones. Explore the number 18 at home.

The children all made a teddy bear to take to our teddy bears’ picnic, which we had on the field. We sang songs, played games and enjoyed sitting eating our picnic with our friends. Miss O’Neill, Mrs. Page, Miss Platt and Mrs. Markham also popped out to say hello.

This afternoon the children enjoyed a visit to their new Year 1 classroom, where they started to become familiar with the new environment, in anticipation of September. The children had a lot of fun.

Enjoy the weekend.

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
