Another crazy week in Reception has come to an end. As the temperature begins to drop, the children have fully embraced the joy of winter. We have been learning all about the polar regions, exploring the properties of ice, baked some puff pastry icicles, waddled like penguins and made an unbelievable snow storm out of polystyrene. Gosh, don't try this at home! Our poor hoover!  Next week, we are looking forward to our trip to 'Imagine That'. The children need to come to school in their uniform with a warm coat. If you haven't informed us of your child's preferred sandwich choice, please send them to school with their own packed lunch.

The children have been working so hard, learning all of their letter sounds and perfecting their 'Fred Fingers'. We have now managed to assess everyone and the children are all now in smaller teaching groups for our daily English lessons. Many children are revisiting some of the sounds that we have already covered. This is absolutely fine as it has been a whistle-stop journey so far. Please check your child's reading folder for a letter explaining everything. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop us a line.

Next week, we welcome a new member of our Reception family. Miss Blundy will begin her teaching placement and she is raring to go. The children met her today and are very much looking forward to working with her over the next few months.

Wishing everyone a wonderful, wintery weekend.

Take care!

The Reception Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
