We are racking up these fabulous weeks in Reception!

Yesterday the sun shone down on our football challenge. Everyone swallowed their nerves and gave it some wellie. The coaches commented that Reception were impeccably behaved and listened beautifully. Every child cheered on their classmates and celebrated happily for the winners. What a team!  Well done everyone!

As part of our Fabulous Formby topic we have been writing postcards from our favourite places in Formby; the pool, Duke Street park, Costa, the pinewoods to name but a few. Where is your favourite place in Formby? Maybe you could send a photograph into school of your very own Formby adventures.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed our Arts Week. What a wonderful experience for them all. We all have different gifts and clearly some of us are born to be on the stage. We rounded up our week with a drama lesson from Katie at Last Act. We thought carefully about our emotions and how we can portray them through the use of our voice, body language and facial expressions. What is life without a bit of drama?

Following the Summer Solstice we added the next layer to our ‘Summer wildflower meadow’ painting, using recycled packaging to create the waving grasses. Take a look at some of our masterpieces taking shape. The children are learning that there is so much more to painting than using a simple paintbrush. You really can print with anything. Give it a go! We would love to see your masterpieces.

The end of the week saw the ever-popular disco take over our thoughts. My goodness it was loud! Well done to all the children for strutting their stuff and enjoying some unstructured time with their friends.  “Green, green grass. Blue, blue sky!” seemed very apt as the closing song. Fingers crossed for more of the same this weekend.

Take care and we’ll see everyone on Monday.

The Reception Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
