Reception 6 Home Learning (week beginning Monday 8th February 2021)

Date: 5th Feb 2021 @ 1:53pm

Week commencing Monday 8th February 2021

Hello everyone,

We hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Firstly, thank you so much for your continued support, it has been fantastic to see many of you live on zoom and engaging with the recorded sessions on the website. You are all doing an amazing job, in very difficult circumstances. Thank you for doing your best to keep your children safe, happy and engaged.

Attached below is the Home Learning grid for week commencing Monday 8th February 2021, along with all the resources you may need to go alongside the activities planned. This week our theme is celebrations; Friday 12th February is ‘Chinese New Year’!

Feel free to print these resources or create your own. We understand there is lots listed here but please remember these are suggested activities, we don’t want you to feel pressured to complete everything listed. It may work for some and it may not work for others. You are all doing an amazing job and hopefully we will all find a way that works for us. However, we would suggest you prioritise basic skills, reading, writing and opportunities to explore number each day.

Don’t forget to have lots of opportunities to play too, this is so important! Children are always learning, problem solving and finding new ways of doing things through their play.

All being well, our daily live lessons are:

9:30AM - Morning Motivator – Mrs. Fegan will be teaching and revisiting set 2 sounds during each Morning Motivator session.
(Please have paper and pencils or a dry wipe board and pen with you).

You can find the practice sheets for the set 2 sounds on the Reception page of the website under ‘files to download’. You can practise reading these set 2 words or practise writing each word.

Monday and Friday at 2:30PM - Story Time and an opportunity to share with your friends and teachers.
Story Time will be on Monday’s and Friday’s at 2:30PM, we feel it would be valuable for you to continue keeping this time free during the week to enjoy a story book together at home.

We would also like to make you aware that on Monday 8th February the YouTube videos for the RWI Set 2 Sounds will repeat. There will be no live teaching during half term but sessions resume Monday 22nd February.

We have suggested these timings so you can still access physical activity e.g. PE with Joe Wicks at 9AM, your specific RWI session on YouTube from 10AM and any topic activities e.g. The Home Learning Grid or Purple Mash after lunch time.

Links to live sessions will be emailed to you via School Spider for the separate meetings.

Please remember that if you need to contact us please use the temporary email address reception@slf.sefton.school we will email you back as soon as possible.

Keep smiling and stay safe,

Miss Hesketh and Mrs. Fegan smiley

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
