Good evening Year 3! - Friday 5th June 2020 Blog

Date: 5th Jun 2020 @ 5:06pm

Good afternoon everyone! The sun is shining once more even if it is a tad windy today.

We hope that you have enjoyed this weeks focus on the 5 oceans of the world. On Monday in school we all had a good sing along to the “7 Continents and 5 Oceans” song that is so catchy and great for a simple reminder. It really sticks in your head too so if you haven’t managed to listen to it this week, type it into YouTube now. You won’t regret it!

Next weeks planner centres around Sport. How much do you already know about the Olympics and The Paralympics? Do you have a favourite event that you like to watch or have you been inspired to take up a particular sport after watching it live on television. I think everybody knows what my favourite sport is as I don’t hide it very well. I am as delighted as many to see the return of the Premier League in a few weeks time but I also really enjoy discovering new sports. The 10 m diving board, hockey and curling really fascinate me too. That board is so very high. How on earth do they manage all those twists and spins?

Could you interview your family about their favourite sport as a child and now? Are they the same or have their allegiances changed? What is your favourite sport or is there a sport you would like to take up? There is also an opportunity to research a sport that is popular in a different country. The choices are endless…

Our maths focus remains time but moving towards the tricky concept of seconds. Time is best taught through every day exploration. It can be a difficult nut to crack so please don’t panic if your child finds this latest shift quite challenging. We all get there in the end.

When you look at next weeks planner you will notice that some tasks are spread over several days. As working parents ourselves we realise how difficult it can be to juggle working from home, emails, phone calls, making dinner etc whilst still supervising and encouraging your child to complete some home learning. We hope that you find this format more manageable but remember EVERY household is different. All we ask is that you child engages with some age related educational activities to keep their brain ticking over until we can all be together again in school. Please don’t stress if you are not managing to get through everything. Do what is best for your family and child. That is all we are doing and we are trained teachers.

Everyone in Year 3 wishes you a fun filled weekend and we can’t wait to see some of your work on the Year 3 Blog. If you click on the sharing icon on the toolbar you will see there is a blog especially for our Year 3 family. I have added a post to show the children how to attach a photograph. It really is very simple BUT only works if you are accessing Purple Mash through a smart phone or a tablet.
