This week saw the culmination of our smile challenge. We went in to Formby Village to create a happiness flash mob, giving beautiful flowering plants to shop keepers, hot drinks vouchers for Gees and Queen’s Road Social and home-made cards to local residents. Well done to those children who spoke to Wright’s Nursery, Gees and QRS to get us discounts on what we purchased. We got some wonderful emails, telephone calls and mentions on Formby Bubble about our amazing Year 5. Each message said how proud you should be of your children.

As well as this, we have been looking at area and perimeter in maths, including compound shapes and maps, preparing for Sports Day this coming Monday, comparing lifecycles of insects, amphibians and mammals in science and continuing creative writing taking inspiration from the short film – The Piano.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
