Roots and Shoots Parent and Toddler Group

Roots and Shoots Wednesday morning 9.15-10.45am. All pre school families are welcome to join us for play, refreshments and a chance to chat.

We look forward to seeing you there. Ali & Sophie

Please watch our 2018 Open Day video!

Our Parent and Toddler group meet every Tuesday afternoon in the school hall.  The group is led by  Ali, Jackie and Vikki who warmly welcome mums, dads, grandparents and even great grandparents! And of course - mostly importantly - the children. We have babies, toddlers and some children almost ready to join us in 'big school' in September.

There are a wide range of toys available, plenty of 'safe space' for the babies and a craft area supervised by one of the adults. At the end of the session we have singing time.

Whether you're already part of the St Luke's family or you're new to Formby, on maternity leave or just needing a break and a friendly face - please come and join us.

Fun in the Sun

It was a really hot day - so a bit of water art ...

...followed by an ice lolly was just what we needed.

Making Caterpillars

Making our toddlers 'SMILE'

Our Year 6 children joined us to read with the toddlers for their SMILE Challenge. There was a special request from parents for the pupils to visit again next week.

Meeting our new chicks

Our toddlers were mesmerised by the baby chicks and loved how fluffy and ticklish they were. Lots of giggles!

Watery Wonderland

Lots of fun at our last ‘Stay and Play’ for this year.

A surprise visitor

Marley the donkey made a surprise visit to school during the last week of the spring term.  He was helping the Reception children with their Palm Sunday celebrations.  Later, everyone from Roots and Shoots came to see him - with lots of hugs and carrots.  One mum remarked, 'We always get a warm welcome when we come to Roots and Shoots but we've never had one from a donkey!'

'Sensational Senses' Success

Our first ‘stay and play’ of the year was lots of fun for those braved the snowy conditions.  There was fruit salad to make and taste, touchy/feely trays full of jelly and pasta, shakers to make and play at the music workshop and some very smelly bottles!  Our next event, 'A Big Bear Adventure', takes place on Wednesday, 9th May in the afternoon.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Our last toddler group of the year was on a beautiful sunny afternoon.which we spent in the Reception playground.  There were cakes and ice lollies to share with the teddies and all our new friends who have joined us throughout the year.  Happy holidays everyone - see you in September!

STEM WEEK

The weather was perfect for our watery challenges during STEM week.  The toddlers had a great time splashing about in their wellies, washing cars, bathing baby dolls, watering plants and making a swamp for the dinosaurs.  We think parents appreciated the afternoon too - as one parent said, 'I'd never do this at home!'

Children in Need

Babies, toddlers, mums and grandmas join in the celebrations in true Pudsey style.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
