Year6 Blog 12.12.25

Another hard-working week has come to an end in Year 6. The children have spent the last few daysplanning and composing their Ancient Greek inspired myth, after looking at how we can craft exciting fight scenes and intergrate dialogue to show the personalities of the characters. They will be edited next week and finalised in order to be read in the future.

In maths, we have continued our study of algebra, with the children using cubes and deines equipment to create and write expressions (such as 2x+1). We have then learned about substitution, replacing the letters with numbers to solve equations.

In science, we have experimented with changing simple circuits in order to see what effect it would have on the bulb. We talked about these as a class before writing our findings in our book. We have also continued to work on our web pages in computing, learning how to link pages together to deepen our website.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
